Afternoon on the Mulberry River

What a challenge for a painter. The water really was this incredible green! Factors such as minerals, soil runoff and sediment, and even algae can cause water to vary from its natural color of blue, according to https://www.americanrivers.org/rivers/discover-your-river/river-colors/.  

We spent a few days of adventure in the "wilderness" of Arkansas, traversing typical Arkansas backroads  - rock, mud, low water bridges(under water!) and I became the official Diva snake patrol since I seemed to find them everywhere we stopped.  While painting this scene I kept an eye on a snake hanging in a tree about 20 feet away - I never got close enough to see if it was poisonous.
